AMOLED vs Super AMOLED Display: Which is Better?

Now let’s look back and define what an AMOLED display really is. The best way to do this is to split the acronym into two distinct parts, active-matrix and organic light-emitting diode.

The diode part of that acronym is the base technology for displays, and is based using a special thin-film type of display. The display is basically divided into four layers—the substrate, the thin-film transistor (TFT) array, the organic active layers, and finally, the cathode layers, which is the upper layer in this arrangement.

The biological aspect of this arrangement is the key to the technology. The way it works is that the organic active layer contains pixels that generate light after energy is transferred to or integrated into the TFT layer.

AMOLED displays are not just common in phones. You can find them on high-end televisions, devices that have a android smartphone screenand other hand-held devices, so they are basically pervasive throughout modern society.
