Redmi 11 Prime 5G unboxing and first impressions

Redmi launched the Redmi 11 Prime series smartphones in India. Both the phones flaunt a 6.58-inch FHD+ 90Hz display and a 5000mAh battery. The 5G model we have is powered by the Dimensity 700 SoC. Here we have our first impressions of the phone.

The phone flaunts a 6.58-inch FHD+ IPS LCD notch screen with 30Hz/60Hz/90Hz adaptive refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is bright, so it’s good in outdoor conditions. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

There is an 8MP camera on the front of the phone. The earpiece is on the top edge, but it doesn’t double up as a secondary speaker. Powered by MediaTek Dimesnity 700 7nm SoC, the phone has 7 5G bands. It comes in 4GB + 64GB (UFS 2.2) and 6GB + 128GB (UFS 2.2) storage options. The phone runs Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top.

The volume rocker and power button that comes with a fingerprint scanner are present on the right side. It has dual SIM and a microSD card slot on the left side which is arranged in a single tray. The 3.5mm audio jack is present on the top along with the IR sensor. The loudspeaker speaker grille, USB Type-C port and primary microphone are present at the bottom. It has a splash proof P2i coating.

At the back, there are dual rear cameras that include a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. Check out some camera samples below.

The phone has evol. Design with flat edges on the sides and subtle grooves on the back that provide better grip. Thought the phone weighs 2010 grams, the weight distribution is good so it doesn’t feel that heavy.

The Redmi 11 Prime packs a massive, 5000mAh battery and supports 18W charging via USB Type-C, even though it comes with a 22.5W charger in the box.

Price starting from Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant, it will be available from,, Mi Home Store and offline stores starting September 9. ICICI card users will get Rs. 1000 off, hence the effective starting price of the phone is Rs. 12,999.
